18 weeks maternity leave under consideration

Women would receive 18 weeks taxpayer funded maternity leave under a scheme proposed by the Productivity Commission.
The Commission's interim report recommends paying mothers at a rate of $544 per week.
Fathers would receive two weeks leave.
Our Canberra correspondent Amanda Cavill says women would have to be working with an employer for 12 months or more to be eligible.
