Torture exported from the West
Tue, Jun 02 2009
Torture is usually associated with non-democratic societies.
While it's true that dictatorships torture more, its countries such as the US, Britain and France who have pioneered and exported techniques that have the dubious distinction of leaving no marks.
American academic Darius Rejali is in Australia for a series of lectures on the topic.
He's an internationally recognised expert on government torture and interrogation.
Peggy Giakoumelos spoke with Darius Rejali earlier.
