Next we turn to "Women and War", a new series on World View, which examines the impact of conflict on the lives of real women and the challenges they face.
Tanja Mikulic was fifteen when Serbian troops occupied her home city of Brchko in Bosnia.
Like many women and children during the Bosnian wars of the 90's, Tanja, along with her mother and brother, was seperated from her father, and lost contact with him as she tried to escape the war engulfing her country.
She tells Sasha Pavey how her mother's courage protected her from the systematic violence of the soldiers, and ultiamtely helped her find an escape route into Germany.
