Matt Campbell to head SBS Television and Online Content
Matt Campbell, SBS Television’s Network Programmer for the past two years, has been appointed to the new post of Director of Television and Online Content.

The new role will cover the commissioning, acquisition and scheduling of all television programming and management of SBS’s online content.

“This is a new role with major responsibilities that will give greater focus to content across SBS’s television and online platforms,” Managing Director, Shaun Brown, said.

“Merging these two areas means that program acquisition and commissioning, and online content creation, will be collaborative and better focused. From program conception through to delivery, we want television programming and online content to be an integrated process that provides our audiences with greater flexibility, expanded choice and better service.

“At SBS, we’re preparing ourselves for a future where broadcasters will no longer be defined by platform but rather by content and brand across all platforms.

“Matt Campbell has had a highly successful two years as our Television Network Programmer and he is absolutely the right person to take on this new challenge.”

In his new role, Mr Campbell will oversee all television and online content, except news and current affairs. His responsibilities include the commissioning and acquisition of programs, scheduling, sport, subtitling and programming strategy.

Mr Campbell said: “I’m delighted to take on this new challenge and I relish the chance to work with such a talented and committed group of broadcast professionals. There are growing synergies between television and online that need to be explored and exploited and that’s a top priority at SBS.”

Mr Campbell will be a member of the newly restructured senior executive of SBS. Other appointments are under discussion and are expected to be announced shortly.
