SBS has received seven nominations for the 2007 Logies, which is testament to our commitment to investing in first-rate Australian content, our dedication to quality news and current affairs and our reputation as a premier sports broadcaster, SBS Managing Director Shaun Brown said following the announcement of nominations today.
SBS drama Remote Area Nurse received three nominations including Susie Porter for Most Outstanding Actress, a Most Outstanding New Talent nomination for Aaron Fa’aoso as well as a nod for Most Outstanding Drama Series.
Emma Lung was also nominated for Most Outstanding New Talent for her role in SBS drama Stranded.
SBS’ flagship current affairs program Dateline also received two nominations for Most Outstanding Public Affairs Report for a story on infamous Iraqi prison Abu Ghraib and for a piece on troubles in East Timor titled Four Days in Dili.
And SBS’ exclusive coverage of Australia’s heartbreaking exit from the 2006 FIFA World Cup after playing Italy has also been nominated for Most Outstanding Sports Coverage.
“These nominations are further proof that SBS continues to be the natural home for quality programming sourced from both Australia and overseas,” Shaun Brown said.
